Welcome to Il Pozzo!
I would like to greet you before your visit to this small world of ours, called “Il Pozzo”. My family bought this suggestive enclave about 15 years ago. The refurbishing of the buildings was long and hard, with the aim of finding the right balance between the typical peasant traditions of this setting and the needs of modern life. Today, when we look up toward the hill where our agritourist farm sits, we get a sense of satisfaction because now, as in the past, “Il Pozzo” is breathtaking. The Casentino valley enriches our property: with its Romanesque parish churches and traditions, uncontaminated nature, exceptional gastronomy, castles, famous Della Robbia terracottas, sites related to Dante, and spiritual sites. The Casentino valley is an oasis of greenery, and includes the suggestive Park of the Casentinesi forests.
Where does the name come from? In the past the locals gave particular names to places based on their characteristics. The name “Il Pozzo”, which means “the well”, was given to this site because of the great quantity of water present underground and that runs over the surface of the hill. In fact, our logo depicts the characteristic old well located in our park. The housing complex, where you’ll stay, was once a miniature village where the peasant families lived on the Baciano farm, which still exists, at the moment in refurbishing, at the bottom of the hill. The houses at "Il Pozzo" are representative of peasant constructions and we have attempted to maintain the original warmth of this rural enclave through the use of original materials (woods, stones, earthen floor)and characteristics.
The apartments are located in two stone farmhouses. Near the edge of the woods there is the largest of the houses: on the ground floor there is the common dining area and the shop; upstairs there are five apartments. On the lower portion of the knoll, there is the other house that has three apartments. Each unit has an independent entry, original niches and other particulars, bathroom with shower, special furnishings and a characteristic fireplace in the sitting room. In addition, modern amenities include air-conditioning, heating, satellite tv, telephone and an outlet for Internet connection (not available at the moment).
In the 1920s, Il Pozzo became a site of silkworm production, at that time an important economic resource for the area.

Golf Club Casentino
9 HOLES PAR 72 2775m
The Casentino Golf Club is located on a panoramic and beautiful hill at about 500 asl. From this point one can take in the entire Casentino Valley, the first valley of the Arno river, the green heart of Tuscany and the home of the National Park of the Casentinese forest. The nine-holes golf course spreads out in front of the terrace of the Club House which is located on the top of the hill surrounded by oak forests. This is an ideal location for those who would like to test their tecnical skills on the green. Casentino keeps the memory of Dante alive and enjoys a rich historic and artistic patrimony, evident in the Romanesque churches to the monasteries and sanctuaries, such as Camaldoli and La Verna, which have been spiritual centers for more than a 1,000 years
