 "Le Pòggiola" is hidden away amongst the green folds of a small north Tuscan Hill, Montalbano. Close to a valley that opens out onto to the spa town Monticatini, the farm has an ideal position, protected from too much sun or wind and from the mist that sometimes rises from the nearby stream, the Nievole. Vines and olive trees thrive in the local marly soil, resulting in a good production of wine and olive oil.

Le Pòggiola is a 20 hectare farm. Its rather unusual name derives from the union of five different estates, in Tuscan dialect ‘poggi’. The owners, Giovanna and her husband Gian Paolo, have lived on site since 1970 with one of their daughters, Lisa, a graduate of forestry sciences, who assists them in managing the farm.

In the main house, an old farmhouse built in the 19th century, there are the rooms which today provide agritourist accommodations: one apartment for 4/6 guests, four rooms and the dining room. The rooms are each unique for colour scheme and furnished comfortably in simple, rustic style. Two rooms (the Red and Orange rooms) have private bathroom; the other two (the Blue and Yellow rooms) share a bathroom.

Uccelliera
Another apartment (private) in the former farmstead "Uccelliera ", which dates back to the end of 18th century.Only the first floor and an old stable have been restored in this building.

You can taste our products during afternoon snacks or dinner you can have if you choose half board treatment. We serve breakfast outside, if possible ,with cow milk, homemade jams and honey.
Meals are prepared for our guests and outsiders who request it. We serve traditional creative Tuscan cuisine and vegetarian dishes on request.

During the summer we serve dinner in the garden under a beautiful and big Cedar.

During the winter we serve dinner inside in a dining room with a big fireplace.

Set on the slopes of Montalbano, the farm’s principal crops are grapevines and olive trees, but the farm also produces fruits and vegetables in summer, jams and honey. Viticulture is Gian Paolo’s passion, yet as he says smiling, “but not too much”. After carefully overseeing the renovations on the farm, he dedicates most of his energy, as he has every year since 1976, to the winemaking, ageing and bottling processes which have yielded good results.

To help guests as well as day-visitors appreciate the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, upon request Lisa can take you for a visit of the farm, the old and new vineyards, the olive groves and woodlands. Surely you’ll be captivated by her passion for the landscape and nature and a visit to the cellars and tasting rooms is especially interesting in light of her experience as sommelier of wine and olive oil.

At Le Pòggiola total mental and physical relaxation is all but guaranteed, also thanks to the numerous activities available to guests, such as Shiatsu massage, cooking courses, dance and painting workshops and archery demonstrations and competitions; for enthusiasts, fly fishing is possible at the farm’s private lake and golf courses are located very nearby.
 
The house is surrounded by vegetation and flowery meadows, Giovanna’s great passion, and there are areas equipped with tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. In addition, table games, darts, ping pong and tourist information are all available. The farm also has a special arrangement with the Grotta Giusti Spa Resort which offers thermal pool, mud and grotta treatments, and more.

The player is faced with many natural hazards such as lakes, streams, forests, and ditches which have been formed as part of the natural contours of the land.
